U11s learn from the Westerners
Coolmine U11s had a chance to go shoulder to shoulder with some of Connacht Rugby's players as part of the Mazda Ireland-run Rugby Roadshow which took place in Carton House last week. The players and parents got to meet the players who took them through some drills and gave them some tips.
The Mazda Rugby Roadshow events are the ideal opportunity for young rugby fans and adults alike to meet and receive rugby skills from top Connacht Rugby players and former Irish International players, including Alan Quinlan, former All-Black centurion Mils Muliaina alongside top players from the squad.

Coolmine 15 Barnhall 10
U16 league
Coolmine came out narrowly on top in their opening league fixture against a good Barnhall side last weekend. Both sides went for an all out attack strategy with attacking rugby prevailing in perfect conditions. The game went down to the wire with a late try for the home team being enough to secure the win.

League wins for 1sts and 2nds
Big well done to both the 1st and 2nd XVs who completed the league double against Tullow yesterday.
The 1sts, while taking the early lead in the game from the outset had their hands full containing Tullow in the second half but kept the Carlow team out to clinch the points with a 24 - 18 win.
The 2nds won in emphatic fashion with an 85 -7 thrashing of Tullow 2nds. Coolmine were just too strong for this side and it showed in every aspect of the game.
The 3rds lost out to league stalwarts Old Wesley 45 - 20. While they were in the game for most of the match, Old Wesley pulled away in the end and Coolmine rued some missed opportunities.

Minis and Youths Report
The under age section of the club had a busy weekend of practice and matches. With many still focusing on their skills this early in the season, the drills were being coached thick and fast in Ashbrook on Saturday and Sunday.
The U13s hit the road looking for action and found plenty of it in Navan where they fielded two strong teams that weren't really troubled by what the Meath team had to offer in the end.
But it's early season for the youths in a lot of clubs and with their first league campaign on a full pitch looming soon the focus remains on improving the core basics and working as team together.
CLUB CLEAN SWEEP IN THE LEAGUE!
The Club 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams came through all their first league games with well deserved victories over the the weekend. Full match report for the 1st's game is available by clicking here.

Players humanitarian visit to India
Two club members, Simon O'Callaghan and Jack Barrett, will travel with the Dochas Leanai charity to an orphanage in Pune, India in late November.
BSSK an orphanage set up in Pune, was born to give a second chance to newborns and children under the age of six found abandoned or surrendered. Additionally, it facilitated these children to live and lead a life under loving care and warmth of families. It began with very humble beginnings, but has found homes for more than 3500 children. It also has an outreach programme for children and families in the community and has served more than 1400 children.
Simon and Jack will be helping to teach basic lessons in English and Geography and also, more importantly, to help establish an active sports programme for the children living in the orphanage.
In order to travel they must raise sponsorship and so a coffee morning will be held in the club (date tbc). If anyone has any unwanted children's football boots or old clothes they would be gratefully accepted.
