COOLMINE RFC HOSTING SCHOOLS RUGBY

This season Coolmine RFC has undertaken a programme to host schools in the locality that would normally not have rugby as one of their main sports. St Vincents Primary School from Glasnevin paid a visit to the club and boys from 4th-6th class participated in a full contact training session in the club. The very talented young men started off their training session with a variety of general movement games to warm up and finished with a full contact match. Throughout the session, the boys went through some passing and tackling technique drills which the very eager St Vincents' lads got to grips with ease. As a result the full contact match at the end was great, bringing all the factors they have learned from the drills in to the game which saw a great standard of rugby. Speaking with Coolmine CCRO Mikey Russell added, “Firstly, it’s great to see St Vincents Primary School down at the club playing rugby. To see the lads improve in such a short space of time is amazing. The future is definitely bright for both club and school.”
Coolmine RFC has hosted a number of local schools recently looking to develop a wider rugby-playing base in the area. Both Junior and Senior teams from Castleknock Community College recently played Ardgillan in the Secondary Schools Cup. If anyone is interested in getting involved in rugby in the Coolmine/Castleknock area, contact Mikey Russell at CoolmineCCRO@leinsterrugby.ie or on 0830051956.
